I still remember the days when I
was a kid, I used to wonder why the song "Monica....oh my Darling" is such a hit
along with "Dum Maro Dum". Today when I have grown up listening to these songs,
do I realise that these were not merely songs but something parallel to a saga.....and who
else than ASHA BHOSALE could have rendered it !!! Asha Bhosale, the most versatile singer that the world has ever produced and I wonder will ever produce again !!!( I am sure u all will agree). Even today we friends start off with a debate "who is greater among Lata & Asha ?" Though I agree that the two can't be conmpared but still I end up saying Asha...Asha & Asha !!! Just listen to "dil cheez kya hai aap meri jaan lijiye" then listen to "tora man darpan" then listen to "chainse humko kabhi aapne jeeene naa diya" and then "piya tu ab to aaaja"....the list goes on and so does the style. I am speechless...completely speechless. Those who have watched Asha Live on Sony Television on 31st December 2000 will understand what I mean to say. And those who missed the show ...... I feel sorry for you folks !!
