Swami Vivekananda   Rishi Prabhakar    Meditation   Self-analysis & Success

Self-Development is a very major aspect of our life. It is perhaps the most significant tool in the life of us youngsters who are on the forefront, building the future of our ownself and ultimately, the nation.
To some stubborn and inert elements in the society, self-development has no significance as they are in the wrong impression that they are perfect and don't need any change in their inner self ! To those elements I have a strong appeal that no one is ever perfect and neither is anyone complete.....

"There is some feeling of incompleteness in every individual, which if realised, leads to the inception of the quest for knowledge, inner growth and ultimately progress"

This is what I feel individually (though I am not a great philisopher), but still have a strong spiritual background which always helps me to communicate with my inner conscience.

"Self-development, according to me, is realising that quest for knowledge and growth inside you and giving it an outlet to flow around the ambience that constitutes our day to day life, ultimately resulting in our evoultion as better individuals."
                                                                                               - Ajay Naik

I am very lucky to have been exposed to the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda and Rishi Prabhakar of Siddha Samadhi Yoga (SSY), whose thoughts helped me to light the spiritual flame inside me, thus enlighting my thoughts.

The person who has read at least a part of  the Biography of Swami Vivekananda, The Spiritual Teacher Of Modern India, will understand the meaning of self-development better. But for those who haven' read it, no problem, this section of mine will help you to get introduced to Vivekananda and his mission to bring about a renaissance in the life of the "Today's Youth" of Modern India.
Swami Vivekananda was an extraordinary genius with both, a spiritual vision and a spiritual mission. He was a teacher not only of India, but the entire world. His vision encompassed the spiritual upliftment of the humanity as a whole.
He visualized that a spiritually awakened individual would create a ripple by bringing about a spiritualization of human life and culture in the world.
His ideas and idelas have a great relevance to the current problems challenging India and the world today.

In our day to day life, we often come across moments when we really feel drained out. The body and the mind work in coalition and are interdependent. Morever the mind controls the body upto a large extent. When the mental excitations increase the body too gets excited, whcih can be clearly experienced during anxiety. It is also observed that one can't take intelligent decisions when the physical body is tired.

WHAT IS MEDITATION ?
This question will arise in the minds of all my friends and as a regular meditator, I feel its my duty to tell you all what meditation exactly means.
"SAMADHI" or Meditation as we call it is the state where the body and the mind are in perfect equlibrium.
meditation.jpg (7400 bytes)
WHY MEDITATE ?
The thinking process has a continuous burden on the physiology. When the thinking process settles down, body gains enormous amounts of rest. The levels of rest gained during Samadhi is about 3 to 4 times that of deep sleep. 20 minutes of Samadhi is equal to about 3-4 hours of sleep.

HOW DOES MEDITATION HELP IN SELF DEVELOPMENT ?
We know the Proverb "Health Is Wealth" ! That's it then !!
Meditation helps us to revive the energy that we lose in our day to day schedule due to the fatigue. Meditation helps us to maintain healthy state of both mind and body. This ultimately helps us to concentrate on higher levels, improves memory, improves decision making .

If we take a minute to reflect on the individuals we consider successful, whether they are world-famous or someone we personally know and admire, we keep on thinking,
what made them who they are today - talent, charm, connections, good old-fashioned luck?
Sure, we've all heard stories of people who happened to be in the right place at the right time and BOOM, became an overnight hit.
But in 99% of the cases, successful people possess a common quality that can be a powerful lesson for us all -
self-analysis & perseverance. That's right; they stuck to their dream, whether it was to discover a medical cure or learn to play the piano. When skeptics told them it was impossible, they didn't throw in the towel. Instead, they worked all the harder to prove them otherwise.

These inspirational individuals had self-doubts just like you and me (they are, after all, human), but made a promise to themselves not to give up...and kept that promise. It's easy to come up with reasons why we can't do something (not enough money or time, not enough talent, no opportunities) but there are thousands of people who achieve greatness despite seemingly insurmountable barriers.
Take Stephen Hawking, for example; he is unable to speak and confined to a wheelchair, but a brilliant physicist nonetheless. Or Terry Fox, the young Canadian whose attempt to run across the country with one synthetic leg (he made it 5,373 kilometres before falling seriously ill) raised 25 million dollars for cancer research. The list of such heroes goes on and on.
